SUEZ has become the new operator of Milton Keynes City Council’s Waste Recovery Park under a 10-year contract that began on 1 October 2026. The company takes over from Thalia, which helped establish the facility after it opened in 2018.
The park processes household rubbish that cannot be recycled. According to the council, it helps divert almost all of Milton Keynes’ waste from landfill and generates enough energy to power the equivalent of around 10% of homes across the city.
The contract extends SUEZ’s existing work with the council on waste and recycling collections and street cleansing. For residents, the change is in who operates the recovery park; the council’s announcement does not describe a change to household collection arrangements.
Councillor Jennifer Wilson-Marklew, Cabinet Member for Sustainability, thanked Thalia for its work since the park opened and welcomed SUEZ, saying the council aims to continue delivering efficient and environmentally responsible services that offer value for residents.
